The goal of the Karachi Smart Grid System Project was to develop a plan and strategy to reduce or eliminate KESC’s losses of power through technical and non-technical sources. Estimates of power losses experienced by KESC were approaching 40%. The resultant loss of revenue by KESC had become unacceptable and had become a heavy burden on KESC business. This objective of this project was to conduct a feasibility study to develop and implement a Pilot project and develop a strategy, select a technology and define the policies and procedures to implement a technological solution to reduce the losses.
